Why Use Proscaf Aluminium?

Aluminium Scaffolding:

There are two types of Aluminium Scaffolding that are widely known in the market: Aluminium Mobile Tower Scaffolding & Aluminium Rosette System Scaffolding – Proscaf Aluminium Scaffolding.
Proscaf Aluminium is the strongest rosette aluminium scaffolding system on the market and it is much more versatile than other aluminium scaffolding options such as aluminium mobile towers.

HOW PROSCAF ALUMINIUM CAME ABOUT?

Leaders across the scaffolding industry know that the efficiency of their teams is critical to their success. Many factors impact the efficiency of scaffold crews, from the versatility of the equipment to the ease of installation and transport.

Over time companies have developed systems to reduce the weight of scaffold and retain strength and durability. Despite the developments, one fact remains: Scaffold installation is a hard physical job and securing and retaining quality staff is an industry wide challenge.

In 2015, SafeSmart Access decided to relook at the challenges facing the scaffold industry and looked at replicating the Proscaf steel system, in Aluminium. Proscaf Aluminium Scaffolding is designed to fill a niche in the scaffold industry and save scaffolders money. If a scaffold is going to be installed for less than a month, or if the project is weight sensitive – Proscaf Aluminium Scaffolding is the answer.

Proscaf Aluminium Scaffolding has been proven very effective over the last 7 years, with contractors across Australasia utilizing the system to reach new heights and increase profitability.

IDEAL APPLICATIONS FOR PROSCAF ALUMINIUM:

SCAFFOLDING FOR RESIDENTIAL HOUSING:
The typical residential house scaffold only stands onsite for 4-6 weeks. The largest cost of the project to the scaffolder is labour in the erection and dismantle. Proscaf aluminium Scaffolding is 46% lighter than most steel systems: a scaffolder carrying 20kg of equipment means 2 x 3.07m steel ledgers or 5 x 3.07 aluminium ledgers. A recent case study proved that the installation and dismantle time on a single-story new build is reduced by 28% using Proscaf Aluminium. The time saved in transport and movement of Proscaf Aluminium has been proven to be a more economical system for scaffolding short-term projects.

SUSPENDED SCAFFOLDING:
Proscaf Aluminium Scaffolding is designed to be able to be used for suspended/ hanging scaffold projects. Proscaf Aluminium is a 6061-T6, marine grade aluminium. The strength to weight ratio of this grade of aluminium is twice that of steel allowing scaffold contractors to build suspended platforms with a lower tare weight. The extra-strong spigots are double bolted, suiting suspended scaffolding projects. The impressive strength to weight ratio of Proscaf Aluminium makes it suited for the maintenance of structures like wharfs and bridges that have weight restrictions.

CANTILEVER SCAFFOLDING:
Proscaf Aluminium Scaffolding is unique for its ability to cantilever using the load-bearing diagonal brace. With industry high compression and tension loads, complex projects can be achieved. Applications are for industrial and energy projects where irregular structures present challenges for standard modular equipment. The anti-corrosion and non-sparking elements of Proscaf Aluminium element are also a benefit in these applications.

WEIGHT SENSITIVE JOBS:
Proscaf Aluminium Scaffolding is perfect for weight sensitive projects such as:
– Rooftop platforms
– Remote projects requiring lengthy cartage.
– Projects only accessible by helicopter. Scaffold on islands etc.
– Commercial building maintenance.
– Silo & boiler maintenance.
– Marine & superyacht painting work

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY DOES PROSCAF ALUMINIUM COST SO MUCH MORE THAN PROSCAF STEEL?
Aluminium is a more costly raw material. However, the cost of Steel has risen a lot more than Aluminium which has reduced the price gap between Proscaf Aluminium and Steel. As at December 2022, the cost of a Proscaf aluminium scaffold house pack is less than 20% more than the same Proscaf steel scaffold house pack. This is much closer than in the past.
DOES PROSCAF ALUMINIUM GET STOLEN MORE THAN STEEL SCAFFOLD?
We have reached out to Proscaf Aluminium users and asked them about their losses from theft. While some customers have had some gear stolen from them over the years, it wasn’t any worse than the loss faced by users of steel scaffold. Part of the reason is because our Proscaf Aluminium system looks very similar to steel systems removing the risk of impulse theft.
DOES PROSCAF ALUMINIUM LAST AS LONG AS STEEL?
Aluminium has been used for access systems in harsh environments for many years. Proscaf Aluminium Scaffolding is manufactured using 6061-T6 aluminium. A key benefit of aluminium is its natural resistance to rust and corrosion. Unlike steel, which must be galvanised to protect it, aluminium is protected by a layer of aluminium oxide, which acts to protect the metal from exposure to air and oxygen. The metal is solution heat-treated and artificially aged until it meets the rigidity and abrasion resistance. Aluminium continues to harden over time making it more rigid than when first manufactured. Aluminium also has a better memory than steel which means it returns to its original position when put under pressure.
IS PROSCAF ALUMINIUM FLIMSIER AND MORE UNSTABLE THAN PROSCAF STEEL?
When compared to steel, aluminium has a coefficient of elasticity equal to one third. In essence, its elastic deformation under a load is three times greater than steel. This means that Proscaf Aluminium Scaffolding has more flex than steel systems, giving the impression that it is weaker. This is not the case because while steel has a higher rigidity, the strength to weight ratio of steel vs aluminium is 2.8:1. Proscaf Aluminium has a thicker internal wall dimension than Proscaf steel to achieve it’s high weight rating. The outside dimensions of the system are the same as Proscaf Steel which means it is compatible with Proscaf Steel.
