King Klampz Edge Protection Auckland Northern Corridor Improvements

A major road tunnel infrastructure project in New Zealand, the Auckland Northern Corridor Project, is well underway. This project will provide better links for Northern Motorway (SH1) travellers in Auckland and improve transport options on the North Shore for freight, cars, pedestrians and cyclists. It includes a new motorway connection between SH1 and SH18, opening access to the Western Ring Route and airport.

Throughout the Auckland Northern Corridor Improvements project, Multiple Tilt panel retaining walls were needed temporary edge protection until the permanent edge protection system was installed. Time was of the essence! Based on the client’s needs, SafeSmart Access’s King Klampz system was a perfect solution – a fixing-free attachment to the platform edge, and more flexible design capability compared to traditional post and panel systems.

SafeSmart’s Wilbert Person says that the client saw immediate benefits from using the King Klampz edge protection system.

Patrick Sullivan, Contract Project Manager, mentioned that the King Klampz edge protection system was perfect, very quick to install, no damages to fixing and certified to the edge protection standards.

Patrick also commented that he has worked with Safesmart Access in Australia and New Zealand for various site access challenges he’s had, and we have always come up with a solution for him.

King Klampz is compliant with AS/NZS 4994.1:2009—the set for temporary edge protection requirements—and is easy to handle manually, thanks to its modular nature.

SafeSmart now has the product added to their Edge Protection category of this website, with more specification details, as a reference for truck manufacturers who may have similar applications.
