Engineering Services Rotorua (Ensign) have manufactured equipment for log, timber and general material handling since the 1960’s.
In 2020, Ensign built a new manufacturing facility in 2020 to cater to growing demand. The new factory is a multi-million dollar investment where 60+ skilled staff produce a range of world-class attachments for forestry machinery.
Owner David Cox wanted to set up his new manufacturing facility to a world-class safety standard and came to Safesmart Access to run an audit on how he could keep his employees safe while working at height. Engineering Services have a lot of staff working on and around large machinery, the risk of slips, trips and falls is high and the efficiency of using standard ladders and access equipment, low.
Safesmart Access visited the new site to assess the need and demonstrate a range of platforms.
After consulting with staff and management at Engineering Services, Safesmart Access came up with a proposal for a range of access platforms designed to work with the unique situations that came through the factory. The CAD drawings were created and approved by the Ensign team and manufactured at Safesmart manufacturing facility in Northland, New Zealand.
Ensign now would arguably have the most advance access platform system in NZ. The welders, electricians, fitters and turners all appreciate how much faster they can carry out their projects without having to risk life and limb to get on and off the machinery they are working on.
